HEY!

My name is Shaelyn Amaio, and I've been a public experience advocate since my days operating rides at an amusement park in Connecticut. I've worked in the cultural sector at museums and tourist destinations in the Northeast and the Deep South. In 2011, I earned my master's degree in museum anthropology from Columbia University, conducting research on the presentation of historical information in theme parks and world's fairs.

Currently, I am putting my experience in museum education, project management, and exhibition development to work creating novel public programming for a variety of audiences at the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn. I recently moved to Norwalk, Connecticut, and am seeking freelance opportunities in content development/management, marketing/social media, and project coordination.

I am a longtime supporter of the #ITweetMuseums initiative, which encourages museum professionals to tweet about their museum visits and experiences using their own unique voices and perspectives. You'll often find me tweeting about my museum escapades using the hashtag. I also participate in the Queens Museum's #EduTues chats on a regular basis, and have hosted several sessions of the weekly #MuseumEdChat held on Thursday evenings.
